International Association for the History of Religions Conference

The International Association for the History of Religions (formally established in September, 1950 on the occasion of the VIIth International History of Religions Congress) is a world-wide organization which has as its object the promotion of the academic study of religions and religion through the international collaboration of all scholars and scientists whose research has a bearing on the subject. As an international scholarly organization, the IAHR has a close relationship with UNESCO through the International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies (CIPSH). It represents the work of scholars of religion who are members of the 37 national member associations and 5 regional member associations that support the study of religion in colleges and universities in their countries. The IAHR is the pre-eminent international forum for the critical, analytical, and cross-cultural study of religion; it is not a forum for apologetic, confessional, or other similar issues and concerns.
